The Library System of Lancaster County holds licenses to a number of business databases that, while not specifically designed for job seekers, can provide you with a good deal of helpful information. Access the following databases by going to the Library System website,
www.lancasterlibraries.org. Click on the Online Resources link on the left navigation bar. Enter your library card number on the Patron Authentication page and go to the online resource page. Scroll down to the database you wish to access and click on the logo.
Business & Company Resource Center – search for detailed information on larger companies
Hoovers – search database of over 16.5 million companies and build a list to fit your criteria
Learning Express Library – take online practice tests for civil service jobs and a variety of other professions, as well as GED and SAT practice exams
OneSource – search for detailed information on larger U.S. and foreign companies
Plunkett Research – under the column Industry Research Centers, select Job Seeker Resources & Tools or Search For Employers for a variety of job search and employment tools.
ReferenceUSA – search database of over 14 million U.S. companies, including local and home-based businesses. Create prospective employer lists based on criteria you select.
