{OverDrive Downloadable Books!}

PUBLIC LIBRARIES IN LANCASTER COUNTY NOW OFFER DOWNLOADABLE AUDIO BOOKS!

Best-selling titles available anytime, anywhere...

Public Libraries in Lancaster County have expanded their services with the addition of downloadable audio books.  Library card holders can check out and download digital titles anytime, anywhere by visiting their local library’s website!

An OverDrive Audiobook is the digital version of a book on tape or book on CD.  Patrons may listen to spoken word audiobooks on their computers or transfer to a variety of portable devices, including the iPod.  Note:  Window users can access the service at this time while support for MAC users will be available by the end of 2008.    Many audiobooks can also be burned to CD  to enjoy in the car.  OverDrive Audiobooks are specifically engineered to provide the best audiobook listening experience.

Users may browse the growing collection of best-selling and classic titles. To check out a digital title, users will need a valid library card and computer with Internet connection.  At the end of the 14 - day lending period, titles will automatically expire and are returned to the digital collection.  There are never late fees or damaged items.

“We are very excited to offer this popular, convenient and easy-to-use library service that’s free and available 24/7”, said Debra Rosser-Hogben, Executive Director of the Lancaster Public Library.

The free and easy-to-use service is provided by a cooperative effort between The Lancaster Public Library and The Library System of Lancaster County.    “Providing OverDrive to Lancaster County residents is one more example of how our libraries are meeting the public’s demand for virtual services”, states Susan Hauer, System Administrator of the Library System of Lancaster County.
